Fork and Cork Festival 2017
Windsor's festival season officially kicked off this month, with the annual Fork and Cork event happening at The Riverfront Festival Plaza in front of Caesar's Windsor on July 7th, 8th, and 9th. It's been a couple of years since I have been able to shoot a show at this venue, so I was glad that my schedule allowed me to make it for the second half of Saturday's event.
This is a super cool stage to shoot at, because depending on your angle you can have either the Detroit skyline or the lights of the casino behind the subject. This gets even better when an awesome band is on stage for sunset, when the natural light enhances the stage lights further. In this instance, My Son The Hurricane had the privilege of being on stage for magic hour, and as they were my favourite band of the day, I was thrilled.
This event was also my first concert shoot with my new 80-200 mm lens, and the large space with bright lighting was an excellent opportunity to test it out. I'm thrilled with many of the shots from this show, especially the crowd photos.
The entire day was pretty fantastic, and a big shoutout goes to CJAM 99.1 FM for setting me up with passes (check out their Facebook page for the full set of photos), and Chris Mickle for arranging my photo pass as well as the entire weekend.
